Archerfield Wetlands Precinct - Brisbane

Potentially exciting…

According to the Archerfield Wetlands Precinct website: “Archerfield Wetlands will be host to a multitude of new facilities for the community to connect with nature and each other, including:

  • A network of boardwalks and walking trails that link with The Greenway.

  • Community, educational and commercial hub.

  • Large adventure play space and multi-use games court.

  • Event lawn and informal amphitheatre.

  • A canoe and kayak destination along the creek.

  • Facilities for the Oxley Creek Catchment Association.

  • Public artworks, bird hides and lookouts.

  • Elevated outlooks with views across the wetlands”

…but was there enough community consultation?

According to the Brisbane Times in an article titled “Vision for Archerfield Wetlands takes shape in Brisbane's south”, the community was only given a 4-week consultation period.

We trust that, when Armidale creeklands gets to the concept plan stage - which our association hopes to help develop - that Armidale Regional Council will involve our community more deeply and for a longer time than that!
